GL-MT6000 update questions

Hi,

According this page: https://openwrt.org/releases/start
Stable release: OpenWrt 23.05
Old stable release: OpenWrt 22.03
End-of-life versions:
OpenWrt 21.02
OpenWrt 19.07
OpenWrt 18.06
LEDE 17.01

I saw on System > Overview > Device info this:
OpenWrt Version : OpenWrt 21.02-SNAPSHOT r15812+1082-46b6ee7ffc
Kernel Version : 5.4.238

Is it possible to only update the OpenWrt and Kernel versions without loose GL-iNet web UI and his components ?

If yes can you please tell me the step by step and can I use this stable version 24.10 or better use 23.0.5 version ?

Im reading this page but not sure that will wipe GL-iNet WebUi:

best regards

This isn't supported.

If you want to get a newer (but not the newest!) OpenWrt version, please use the op24 firmware you can find here: GL.iNet download center

However you can switch to plain OpenWrt, but then you will loose the GL GUI for sure.

Does GLINET will upgrade GLINet Version in op24, actually is 4.7.0

I've been waiting for OP24 to go final. I suspect that OpenWRT will go to 24.10.1 by the end of the month. Hopefully when that is released GL-iNET can focus on bring this update to Flint 2 devices.

Nah, by then the Flint 3 will be out and the Flint 2 will be dead forgotten.

Many old devices are still supported.

Product release cycle is a normal thing.

Thank you !

After update this one : 4.7.0-op24 then GL GUI will still remain ?
I guess yes but I didnt found an answer for this question.

You will unfortunately soon learn to take these announcements from GL.iNET with a great pinch of salt.

If by supported you mean by outdated kernel versions full of security vulnerabilities and bugs, then you are indeed correct.

These flint 2 routers have been plagued with issues. I'm on 4.7.0 R3 and still lose 2.4 at random. Would have been nice to fix fw rather than start a new model, I don't think I'll be getting another one.
We are over 64 days uptime.
Don't get me started on wan failover/failback issues. Almost ready to replace with Mtik because of the fo/fb issues.

Someone can give me feedback about these firmware on the Flint 2 as main router + AP only ?

  • GL-inet 4.7.0 (OpenWrt 21.02)
  • GL-inet 4.7.0-op24 BETA
  • GL-inet 4.6.6-op24 RC
  • OpenWRT 24.10.0

For those have no issue, maybe you could give some tips.

it would be nice to see an update for the op24 version with
openwrt pesa1234-build GitHub - Fail-Safe/openwrt-pesa1234-build: This is the definition of a viable build container for building @pesa1234's OpenWrt image.

GL must hire Pesa to create a cherry picked build for Flint 2 and work with GUI Dev team because it seems HK startup is understaffed and cant deliver a proper support for their top line products
