Have used your GL RM1 and it works well. There was an initial issue with microphone voice crackling which was solved in version 1.2 beta and later
Recently got your PoE model and it too is excellent but has microphone voice crackling and noise. Hope that it can be solved in newer versions of firmware.
Any update on this - there is some random noise every 4 to 5 secs. Like a electrical noise or trrr… sound. It also there in the non poe version of the device.
You can test yourself on windows by running the sound recorder app.
Yes I tested both RM1 and RM1POE. The issue is as below:
There is some noise in both that comes every few secs. It like a trr / xxx sound ever 4 to 5 secs (something like electrical noise). It's not there in the entire period. Use windows sound recorder and test it. Changing USB cables etc doesn't help. It happens with any laptop.
However, this noise it is totally absent when tested using a Google voice call maybe as that has noise suppression
The noise goes away when filtered with Nvidia broadcast
Using ocenaudio instead of windows sound recorder and reducing mic volume to 50 percent helps reduce this noise greatly but doesn't eliminate it.
The same noise is not there in a pikvm when tested in windows sound recorder but the voice latency of pikvm is much higher so comet is better overall.
I do not need a new firmware but would suggest you take a look in future updates if this can be improved without adding any new latency.
I have same problem!
Comet (GL-RM1) 1.5.0, tried to downgrade to 1.4.2 - doesnt helped.
BUT!!!
I changed resolution of screen to 1920x1080 and thats works!
Also works on 2560x1440
Try it
I tried the above firmware but it does not help. The problem is there in both the PoE model and the non PoE model. You can use windows voice recorder or even a free one like moo0. Again its not persistent white noise. It's noise like an electrical sound every few secs example after every 5-10 secs. The problem is not there in PiKVM.
Please try to solve this without increasing latency.
Another audio issue. Sometimes, when you start the kvm and enable audio and mic both -and then start an audio recording application voice from mic only starts 5-10 secs after you start speaking. The first 5-10 secs gets cutoff.
This is very good. Noise issue is solved. Can you implement this both in RM1 and rm1poe.
One issue I still face in one computer and not in the other is that even after activating the speaker and mic , mic sound doesn't get activated unless I move the speaker volum6 slider in the windows host machine. What's the cause for this?
Was able to resolve the delay issue too. It was with the computer.
As the noise issue is now resolved with the above beta build can you let us know when the above will be incorporated in the official release for both comet models.
Quick question and/or recommendation: Are we currently using the OPUS codec? If not, would it be possible to include it? It’s optimized for low latency and VoIP applications, and it’s also well supported across popular web browsers.
