GL-SFT1200 Opal automatically upgraded from 3.x to 4.x, no release notes, all configurations lost, no way to turn auto upgrade off

My GL-SFT1200 (Opal) had auto-update on and some time in the last few days has updated from 3.x to 4.3.6 release 3 firmware.

A few issues:

  1. All of my configurations was lost, couldn’t VPN into my network so couldn’t check out what was going home until I got home days later.

  2. There are no release notes? This page still says the stable version for this model is 3.216

  3. Most importantly: auto update options are now removed and gone from the firmware? I can’t find anwhere to enable or disable this anymore. There used to be a tab on the ‘System → Upgrade’ page. I may now want to disable this when I’m travelling to stop it auto updating and losing all my configuration and then I can’t access anything?

This is kinda annoying.

4.x firmware has removed the automatic update function.

In addition, in order not to affect the use of functions, It is best not to reserve configuration upgrades.

But mine automatically updated to 4.x and this is snapshot? not stable? So now I’m stuck on not stable version?

You can downgrade. Before doing so, tell me if this version is usable and if you advise upgrading my Opal.
