GL-X3000 modem log bloat

I have an X3000 with an ethernet WAN and a SIM for 4G/5G fallback and management access. There is very little traffic through the modem but the log is overrun with these messages:

They appear in batches of 20 or so in less than one second, repeating between one and five minutes later. If these are just informational and don’t indicate a problem, why are there so many of them?

I know I could suppress them in rsyslog, but it would be better to understand the cause and prevent them happening.

OK; I concluded that these requestRegistrationState2 messages are routine status reports from the modem connection manager, rather than evidence of repeated data connections or a fault. The modem remains registered while Ethernet is the active WAN, and the helper repeatedly logs the current mobile registration state even when nothing significant has changed. In my case the messages continued to show PS: Attached, so I wanted to suppress the noise while retaining any warning that the modem had become detached.

I added the following rsyslog rule before the normal logging/forwarding rules:

if ($programname == "netifd" and
    $msg contains "requestRegistrationState2" and
    $msg contains "PS: Attached") then {
    stop
}

This drops only the repetitive healthy-state reports. A requestRegistrationState2 message showing PS: Detached, or other modem errors and disconnection messages, will still be logged.

My X3000 was, and still is, running 0804beta2.

OpenWrt firmware is 21.02-SNAPSHOT / LuCI openwrt-21.02 branch git-22.245.77575-63bfee6
