GL-X3000 (Spitz AX) Poynting antenna

Hi,

I am reaching out because I am replacing a Teltonika RUTX50 (which suffered from frequent modem radio freezes) with the GL-X3000 (Spitz AX).

My professional setup consists of a Poynting A-XPOL-0002-V3-02 outdoor antenna, perfectly aligned with a BTS that delivers over 700Mbps download speeds. I am using high-end Messi & Paoloni Hyperflex 10 Sahara cables, factory-terminated and weather-sealed.

Since my antenna is a 2x2 MIMO system and the Spitz AX is a 4x4 MIMO router, I have a few questions regarding optimization:

  1. Does the router natively support 2x2 MIMO by terminating the unused SMA ports with 50 Ohm dummy loads?

  2. Are there specific AT commands (e.g., AT+QCFG="antcfg",...) required to force the Quectel modem to operate exclusively on specific ports (like ANT 0 and ANT 3) to ensure maximum stability and prevent radio freezes?

I want to ensure the modem doesn't 'hunt' for signals on the terminated ports, which might cause overheating or SINR degradation.

Looking forward to your technical advice

Messi & Paoloni Hyperflex 10 Sahara cables are top tier, I use them for my HAM radio setup.

Very good choice.

The product is nice, but the software is a bit too limited for my taste. I would have preferred to see all the aggregated bands and their respective values in detail. It runs quite hot and the CA combos are lacking, likely due to design choices. Even though it reached nearly 700 Mbps on an unloaded cell, the heat it generates doesn't give me confidence in its long-term durability. I am currently considering a return

Hello @luca1975a

  1. It can theoretically support 2x2 MIMO if connected the ANT0 and ANT3.
  2. Sorry, it does not support modifications via AT commands.

The following commands can be used to check the signal transmission and reception status of the current service network:

AT+QRSRP
AT+QRSRQ
AT+QSINR?
