Heat from AXT1800 when left plugged in for the afternoon

Has anybody left their unit plugged in the whole afternoon? I did, when I tried to do an unboxing and updating firmware, did the speed test via a repeater scenario (I normally use mine in hotels), and the unit runs hot. I’ve not experience it go that hot for the Slate and the Shadow.
I’ll give more details over the weekend, I just recently got a thermometer as well.

I have measured the surface temperature in fairly use( mainly Wi-Fi connection for 5 devices as Router Mode) with a temperature gun , the highest temperature is around 47 °C (environment is around 27C~29c ).

I think it’s ok for router in this size.

By the way, the lm-sensors package can’t be found in the beta 8 firmware repository source, maybe the router has temperature sensors built-in so the temperature inside can be read out (however the chance is slim since it’s big brother Flint doesn’t have it.)

It heats a bit after a few hours of intense usage, but it is stable after that. The external plastic seems durable to cope with those temperatures (<50C from my experience). Usb and micro sd also suffer from heat when in usage with smb, but I have seen far worse (micro sd should handle <=80C well, usb similar).
Until now I have not seen the fan active, despite forcing the system with 10 devices with video and smb usage. So I think it is disabled by software for now (or there are sensors and enabled only for t>t_0, t_0>50C).
Repositories are still incomplete (cannot install transmission yet), so perhaps there is a lm-sensors package in the future.

the fan will start running when the CPU temp reaches 90°C. It will help the router surface being 70°C below under 40°C room temperature.

I’ve had mine powered on almost always since getting it last Friday … keeps my coffee warm when I set my cup on top of it

But seriously, I find it warm, but not worryingly so.

I just checked now with the contactless thermometer i bought. 47 degrees Celsius.

I get 50°C at idle and 55°C on top and bottom of case during VPN and throughput testing. I haven’t seen the fan running yet. I leave the router plugged in.
