Hello from a New User — Need Help with GL.iNet Router Setup

Hey everyone,

I’m new here and recently got a GL.iNet router for my home setup. After trying to configure it, I ran into a few problems and thought this would be the best place to ask:

  • I’m trying to set up a site-to-site VPN but the connection keeps dropping after a few minutes.

  • Also, I’d like to block certain IP addresses or domains on my network — how do I do that with GL.iNet’s interface?

  • Finally: any tips on optimizing the speed and stability when multiple devices are connected?

A bit about me: I’m from Pakistan, and I’m not an expert in networking but eager to learn.

If any of you have done similar configurations or have suggestions, I’d be really grateful. Thanks in advance!

Hi

Could you confirm whether your site-to-site VPN works on other devices connected to the same network (via same Wi-Fi or connect to your ISP modem)?
If it does not, the issue may be related to Internet censorship.

If it works fine on other devices, please share the following details with us:

  1. Device model
  2. Firmware version
  3. VPN type (WireGuard or OpenVPN)
  4. Please share with us the logs via PM.

For blocking specific traffic, you may use one of the following:

  • Firewall to block IPs (Luci → Network → Firewall → Traffic Rules)
  • AdGuard Home to block domain access.

The default configuration is usually quite effective and should provide sufficient speed and stability for multiple connected devices
