Switching to Encrypted DNS (GL GUI → Network → DNS → DNS Server Settings) will solve this, situation dependant. DNS over TLS (DOT) or DNS over HTTPS (DOT) will then be forced out over the VPN link provided the VPN Policy is set to force all traffic to use it (GL GUI → VPN Dashboard → Global Proxy).
