# It seems like GL NAS feature not encrypted

Just make encryption mandatory, is it that hard?

```auto
sed -i '/\[global\]/a \ smb encrypt = required' /etc/samba/smb.conf.template

```

Hi

Could you please clarify your device model and firmware version?

Starting from firmware v4.8, Samba encryption should already be enabled by default.

As mentioned earlier, we introduced this change starting from the v4.8 firmware.

Therefore, you may want to

- consider upgrading your device to a v4.8-based firmware version for out-of-the-box support,
- or alternatively SSH into the router and manually adjust the settings as you mentioned previously.
