Ive has the mango travel router to use as an open vpn through my wifi and the connection is extremelly slow less than 2mbs on upload and download. Can someone help me? I use a tplink as my main wifi router in the house but need the mango for a vpn location
Hi
The Mango is optimized for travel portability, meaning its compact size inherently limits both cooling efficiency and network capabilities (it only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, which can be susceptible to current environmental interference).
Please try switching from OpenVPN to the more efficient WireGuard to see if it improves the speed.
If you require a high-speed VPN Wi-Fi router for continuous use in a home environment, our home router series—such as the MT6000—is a better choice for high performance.
The mango isn't really any good for openvpn, it's not really strong enough to keep up hence the low throughput. If you can use wireguard then you will get a better speed however it will still be low. As stated already it's also only got 2.4ghz WiFi so if you use as a repeater then the speeds will also get worse.
Best to replace the mango with the beryl ax or slate if form factor is a decision. Far better internals on both products with decent speeds on both Wireguard and OpenVpn. By the way, use Wireguard whenever possible as it is less demanding on the CPU and therefore can give better speeds (VPN provider depending)
How do I use the wireguard? I tried to look up online and the instructions arent very clear.
Same as OpenVPN basically. Your VPN provider needs to offer wireguard as an option.
