Not sure. But RAM is too expensive now. So expected it will be just minimum.

These are bad times for tech enthusiasts, that’s for sure.
But for businesses as well.
I currently use the AR300M16-ext for travel (The AR300M has the same form factor as the Mango, so I’ll frame it that way.)… and it kinda works as a travel router with the 4.x software installed. But I’m unable to install ANY additional OpenWRT packages. What I like about it, though, is that it can:
- Supports Tethering with my phone
- Has 2 ports WAN/LAN
- Has a USB port that I used to use for external storage when I had software 3.x installed
- SMALL!!! - This is the most important thing! I use it on bicycle trips, and the Beryl is just too big
- VERY low power consumption for battery pack powering.
What I’d like in a future model:
- SAME SIZE (or very close)
- 2.4 and 5ghz options
- More storage space so I can install more packages
- Relatively low power consumption… maybe a balance between the ~2W of the Shadow and the ~10W of the Beryl AX… so enough power to support faster speeds, but not a monster sized travel router.
- Keep the reset button and the external configurable switch.
If you scour the internet, there seems to be a gap in this size range. Right now, the smallest travel routers are around the size of the Beryl AX. The really small, lower power ones are largely discontinued. I understand the need for speed, but the AR300M has always been fast enough for my needs (boot time could be improved with the 4.x software, but it was decent running the 3.x). I imagine that some more modern chips could achieve greater speed, comparable or slightly higher power consumption, and equivalent size. The Shadow/Mango were excellent products and hopefully a V2 will be even better! Excited to see this!
I am also waiting on the Mango 2, and I’m still running multiple AR300M and AR300M16 routers, all with current releases of OpenWrt, which uses up less than half the Flash space on the AR300M16. The AR300M hardware has been great as I have yet to have one fail.
My testing with 4.x firmware on the AR300M and any of their routers using the older MIPS CPU did not go well. I feel that they did a poor job of making a light version of 4.x for their older routers with limited CPU and Flash. 4.x seems to be designed for high-end hardware.
I hope that GL iNet puts in enough CPU, RAM and Flash in the Mango V2, so that it can run the 4.9x and above firmware, as I would hate to see it be given a poorly supported, light version of 4.x. GL iNet has already stated the A1300 (Slate Plus) with 256MB RAM, 128 MB Flash with a quad core ARM CPU is not sufficient to run their 4.9x firmware. I guess the Mango V2 will need something better 
Have you tried it with vanilla OpenWRT? I moved my Mango over and it works just fine.
In fact, so fine, I’m thinking the preferred travel strategy is Mango/Power Bank/Phone/GaN charger. I just finished a two week trip to a beach house, and because I was going to be in a fixed place, I took along my Beryl AX. I was a little surprised that the AirBnB had a 5/1 internet connection, so the Mango would have handled that easily. Often, I try to improve speed by using an ethernet cable to wire the travel router to that in the AirBnB. I couldn’t do that here because there was no accessible power near the AirBnB router, but it did have a USB port, so I could have powered the Mango that way; not the BerylAX.
The Mudi 7, sure, but pricey.
When I do a short stay, I plug my USB150 into whatever USB power port is handy, do a quick connect to their WIFI, and I’m done. My USB150 is still running firmware 3.212 as GL iNet did some dumb changes on the later 3.2x releases. One day I will move it to OpenWrt, but it just works, so I’m happy

In my case I have wireguard tunnels to two other private networks, with PBR to direct. Can’t do that with the Mango firmware, and I can get rid of a lot of other stuff (nodogsplash, gtertf), so plenty of memory.
