Matter support?

Any chance Matter support will be added to the home routers? Flint 2/3?

Hi,

Flint 2 and 3 have no relevant plans for the time being.

I will submit this to the PM team and to evaluate whether later new product is supported.

It is usefull to note that the newer matter version doesn't require bluetooth anymore they can work over wifi.

I really like this matter tech, it is pretty much a abstract interface for basic functions these iot devices can override, and much open than those closed platforms like zigbee which often are brand locked.

Would be interesting to see, optionally it could also be a package to install to the current ui, I could understand that to keep it simple :+1:

Thx. Also you might want to check with them if it is possible to add via a firmware update as the hardware might already be able to support it. :+1:

Same. I have a lot of Matter devices installed though out the house. They might be able to add Matter support with a firmware update so long as the hardware is capable of supporting it. There are not many options out there at the moment that support Matter (TP-Link Deco, Google Nest WiFi and the Amazon eero line), so this would be a great marketing bonus for gl-inet if they can easily add it with a firmware update.

A radio chip supporting the IEEE 802.15.4 standard is required to support the Matter over Thread on router.

GL routers hardware are not equipped with this kind of chip, I think it cannot be added to supprt via software upgrades.

Thank you very much for sharing the usage scenarios; I will submit them to the PM team for evaluation.
