Can someone confirm if the pre-order date which came in the email is correct? Will it really be the 4rd Feb at 6PM PST?
the countdown embedded in the email doesn’t seem to be correct.
Just want a confirmation on this please.
I’ve never thought countdown emails were using GIF images lol https://img1.niftyimages.com/79wh/pcxp/qysf
there seems precision mismatch due to that, and also i think the timer is indicating Feb 5th, not 4th
Just my luck, I have a 12-hour flight just before the super early bird starts. Hopefully there are any left when I land ![]()
The countdown timer doesn't seem very accurate.
Please refer to this time:
February 5, 10:00 AM HKT
February 4, 6:00 PM PST
Mudi 7 includes all the features of the GL firmware plus Mudi 7 specific functions (for example eSIM, touchscreen, etc.), so its software capabilities will be very powerful.
They’re not the same platform or class: Mudi 7 has a fully internal antenna and tri-band Wi‑Fi + 3/4/5G cellular, whereas the MT3600BE is an external-device dual-band Wi‑Fi, so they’re not comparable. I think if it’s just a repeater connection + AP for wireless clients, for a hotel room it is no problem—unless you’re talking about a presidential suite.
how do we get the presale / super early bird access? i got an email on jan 31 that it was coming in feb, but haven’t gotten the presale countdown email. i am all in at 279.
There was one more reminder email sent before the super early bird sale.
The super early bird are now sold out.
The early bird is going!
But it still needs to build-in antennas of 5GHz and 6GHz.
If you mean the Mudi 7, it doesn’t need external antennas for Wi‑Fi—external antennas are only for cellular.
The Wi‑Fi range will definitely be a bit worse than the devices like the Beryl 7 with external antennas, but it will still cover hotel rooms. After all, the Mudi 7 is with battery and more portable, so you can move it closer to you.
i haven’t gotten either email…so the super early bird came and went without me even getting a shot at it even though i registered quite a while ago (and confirmed i was already registered when i tried to register again, it told me i was already registered).
it is what it is i guess, but that’s really not cool at all. that said, i did buy the pre-order so i guess it really only cost me $20. excited to finally be able to sell my nighthawk and put my spitz into permanent home backup duty and just have the one device to carry around when the mudi gets here.
That seems to be the case. Maybe there’s some hope that the models are all the same and they are just software restricted to meet local regulations. (And thus easily unblocked for all regions ). Just hoping really.
Since there is an EU and an NA version, well maybe recommend getting the one for the region you travel most.
Have you found a 5G mobile router that covers all global bands? I´m not sure there is one existing? From my experience the ones with the higher chips (X75) support more bands. With X85 it should be close to global coverage. Eventually ASUS 5G-GO 5G Mobile Hotspot Pocket WiFi might be closer to what you look for, but haven´t found band coverage and rumors say it is still delayed due to some bugs.
I have mudi 2, nighthawk 5G, and Spitz AX. The spitz AX is a beast if you do something like a road trip, Im shocked how good it is traveling in a car and setting up at an AirBNB or something with it. I bought 2 v7 one for me and one for wife since we are always mobile when working. Can’t wait to have fast & responsive 5G from GL-inet in the work bag.
@bruce Here comes another technical question: Can the screen be turned by 90 degrees like it is the case with mobile phones?
I´m asking this question because then a docking station could be more easily developed that runs on the USB-C 3.1 port. Okay, it could be done anyways, but if the screen doesn´t turn it looks weird. And the lower USB-C port is for charging only so this doesn´t make sense.
Acer Connect M4D has a docking but is in landscape mode from beginning.
Netgear ones have a docking solution in portrait mode.
From what I understand Mudi 7 doesn´t have a good capability to be docked - unless the screen would turn. Would need a software solution for manual turn as it for sure lacks a gyroscope I guess.
the spitz ax is good in a car? are we talking about the same device?
first of all you have to find a power adapter that can power it in vehicle. not impossible or even all that difficult, but still something else to buy and an extra step to make it work. second, you have a bigger brick of a router with 6 antennas sitting there taking up a ton of space in the vehicle. depending on your situation maybe that works for you, but for me in a smaller car it's extremely cumbersome.
it's a great device and i’ve been thrilled with it overall, but for in vehicle travel specifically and on the go it's not great, IMO. once we get to our destination and turn it on, or when we use it at home for backup to our fios connection? then i agree, it’s a beast. in vehicle? gotta disagree with you there.
i am excited for my spitz to be put into permanent home backup duty once the mudi 7 arrives.
3 row SUV, and Ecoflow Delta 2 power bank. Road trip after all. The Spitz AX was originally marketed to RV owners on cross country trips, space & power supply was never a concern.
yeah like i said perhaps your situation is different and it certainly is. i’ve got a model 3 which is obviously much smaller and space constrained. the mudi 7 will be perfect for me.
…and even specs changed between announcements on the Asus! So let's discuss when it really is available - if ever. (same by the way for Inseego M5000 which was announced almost a year ago and never showed up again since then)
Gl.Inet will simply have to start to develop a Mudi 8 for 2027/2028 based on X82 then everybody - even yourself - will be happy. And I'm sure they will ![]()
A mobile router based on X82 / X85 with DSDA will be then for me then one of the last routers to buy for a long period of time. The X72/X75 is just bridging technology for me - sounds a bit crazy I know. But as soon as I get a decent DSDA mobile router I’m definitely done for a long period of time.
Just as a side note: We will face higher prices and lower availability which impacts product launches due to chip shortages caused by AI demand.
I have no clue what Asus will be using. But download speeds from first announcement to recent announcement changed. So something technical changed in the meantime.
