Aye, i also thought of Rooter, and even tried its firmware, but it doesn’t install. However, even if it would work, it’s an overkill – my modem is supported by usb-modeswitch and is working fine on big Linux, so it has to be possible to get it to work on Open WRT too.

On real usb-modeswitch logging can be enabled. I haven’t found a way to do so on the version of usb-modeswitch which is used by Open WRT. Here’s the log file from a Linux PC where the modem works fine:
