MT-2500 (Brume 2) Bricked & cannot access Uboot anymore

Hi all,

I have a Brume 2 that has been used as a WireGaurd Server for a long time. I have decided to update it and suddenly it just stopped working and I was not able to access the GUI. Tried resetting by holding the reset button for 10 seconds but it did nothing. So I tried using Uboot to unbrick it ( What should I do if my router is bricked - GL.iNet Router Docs 4 ) as per the instructions here. Initially the LED would flash 5 times and I would be able to access the page, upload the uboot .bin file but once proceed it would give me a fail error message. Tried from Safari and Chrome on Mac and Chrome on windows and the issue is persistent.

Now, the LED does not even flash anymore. I can connect it to my computer I am able to get it to show on the networks page, saying self-assigned IP. But changing the IP address, subnet, and router does not load the Uboot page anymore.

Is there still any hope for this device?

Hi,

Thank you for the information.

Could you please let us know the current status of the LED — is it off, solid, or showing any other behavior after powering on?
When you connect your computer to the MT2500 and boot it normally, does the computer receive an IP address from the router automatically? Are you still able to access the normal Web Admin Panel?

Could you please try following the guide below to upgrade the U-Boot and see if it helps?

Hi Charles,

Thanks for replying. The LED is off completely, no matter what I do. When I connect it to the computer, a self-assigned IP shows. I cannot access the normal web admin panel nor the UBoot page.

I have tried to follow the tutorials earlier (before the LED stopped working), it was flashing 5 times and I was able to access the U-boot page, but keep getting failed to install. At some point, the device just bricked and the LED does not come on, and I cannot access the Uboot page anymore.

Please let me know if anything else can be done.
Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Thanks for the additional information.

Since the LED is completely off and neither the normal Web Admin Panel nor the U-Boot page can be accessed, could you please try powering the device with another known-good power adapter and cable, and check whether the LED comes on normally?

If the LED comes back on, could you please try following the previous U-Boot upgrade guide again?

I have tried with the power brick of another router (slate) as well as the iPhone one + cable. Unfortunately the light never came on.

Hi,

Thank you for the additional information.

Since you have already ruled out the basic power supply issue and the device now shows no LED response, it is possible that the device has developed a hardware fault.

At this point, we would recommend contacting our customer service team at cs@gl-inet.com for further after-sales assistance.

When contacting them, please provide the following information if available:

  • Your order number / proof of purchase
  • The serial number (S/N) of the device

Thank you for your understanding.
