Are you using the same Ethernet cable between the modem & Beryl AX as the previous router? If so do you happen to know if — note I'm speculating here — if Comcast restricts what equipment can be connected to their modems?
Yes, it is the same cable. I simply unplugged it from the old router and plugged it into the new one.
I'm not aware of any restrictions like what you mentioned. I own the modem; it's on Comcast's approved list, but I bought it from Amazon a couple years ago.
& there's no issue using said cable when directly connecting the modem to, oh, say, a laptop, correct? Regardless I'd download the latest stable build for your Beryl AX & flash that manually (GL GUI -> System -> Upgrade -> Firmware Local Upgrade). v4.8.0 is the current. Use 'common upgrade.'
I downloaded the latest firmware from the link you provided. Installed it, but same result. Then I noticed that the upgraded Admin Panel had a button (looks like an open book) in the upper-right corner of "INTERNET" for a beginner guide, so I took a look.
I tried out the Network [Configuration] Guide and it suggested to reboot the modem. Lo and behold, that was apparently enough to connect the modem to the MT3000 Beryl AX.
Everything works now. They should add these instructions (to upgrade the firmware and to reboot the modem) to the setup card included in the box.
The reason that works is that the ISP stores the MAC address of your current router. Rebooting the modem clears it and allows you to use a different router.
