MT300N-V2 modem disconnecting

I have an MT300N-V2 router with 4g usb modem that seems to disconnect whenever I connect a device and initiate an internet download (speedtest, Netflix, file download, etc). I’m trying to figure out why this is happening, but don’t know enough about what would trigger a disconnect or reset. I’m fairly certain its not a signal strength issue on the 4g connection, and it seems to only be happening with the usb modem, not when I tether another device (android phone).

I’m starting to think it could be a power supply issue. Its running off a 2400W inverter. Have there been any issues with these devices working properly on inverted AC? Anyone ever seem similar behavior before (modem disconnects or resets) specifically when connecting and initiating a download? Thanks.

It seems a power issue. Please try a 5V2A adapter.

The problem is that when the device use a lot of power, the voltage could drop can causing problems.

If the inverter has two USB sockets, then try a dual USB adapter so you get double the amperage - a typical USB @ 5V / 0.5A is too little, especially if you use router’s USB port.

Got it. The inverter has 2 usb ports, one labelled 1A, the other 2.4A. I’ve plugged into the 2.4A port but still getting the same behavior. Seems that as soon as I connect a device, the modem will disconnect, but the connection will re-establish if I power cycle the router.

Was able to reproduce this issue when plugged into 110v wall outlet, so I’m no longer suspicious of the inverter. Posting log excerpt from one of these disconnect instances. Modem was showing as connected. I joined my device to the SSID, open browser window to speedtest.net, modem immediately disconnects. Wifi disconnects.

I don’t see anything below that stands out, it just looks like a couple rounds of DHCP negotiation. Anything suspicious that I’m missing?
