The latest listed Tor Firmware for the MT300N-V2 is a year old.

Is there any plans to release a newer one?

The tor firmware is no longer being supported.
You can follow this post to do it manually:

TOR + 3.0.x

There isn’t plan to add TOR on v3.0, but you can set it up by yourself. Install Tor ipk opkg update opkg install tor tor-geoip Tor Configuration Clear existing torrc file via echo '' > /etc/tor/torrc and copy paste this configuration bellow to /etc/tor/torrc. Thanks for your very quick reply.

I already have some nice scripts to make a OpenWRT enabled router to a TOR router, but I
was hoping there would be a “out of the box” Firmware for these models.
(I have several on the shelf)

You can download the latest testing firmware for your router, the 3.100 versions. They have TOR included out of the box now.
