MT6000/Flint2 Setting Up Port Forwarding on Xfinity

@ shillingg

Im in Rockville, MD....down the street from Washington DC.

Here is a simple way to test if you have CGNAT.

Login in to your router and write down the IP that is provided to you by Xfinity. Lets say your IP is 73.134.x.x

Now go to Open Port Check Tool - Test Port Forwarding on Your Router
It will show your public IP. If the public IP and the IP given to you by Xfinity is the same, then you don't have CGNAT.

IF you do have CGNAT, public IP will be different.

Hi Denisimo:

No CGNAT for me either the public IP and router IP are the same.

But if your old router does not work either - it can't be an issue with the GL one, am I right?

admon:

Correct, I don't believe that I'm having the same issue that Denisimo is having with the firmware. I'm starting to believe the routers aren't the issue. I've now tried 3 different routers MT6000/Flint, AXT1800/Slate AX (with firmware 4.6.4 and 4.6.8) & Linksys WRT54GL v1.1.

I've the same issue with each of these routers. No connection from outside network (WAN). Port Forwarding works inside the network.

I'm running out of ideas as to what could be the cause. I'm happy to hear that Denisimo can get port forwarding to work with Xfinity. That is more than I've been able to do.

Could be conflict port somewhere. Like ddns servers, port used different thing. Try test different port to see public ip

Port forwarding only works for me if I use firmware 4.6.6 OP24. It doesn't work when im using firmware 4.6.8 OP21.

Hi slesar:

Thanks the DNS server does always seem to remain the same even when my public IP address has changed (I've been swapping out a bunch of different routers). DNS Server 75.75.75.75, XX.XX.XX.XX

So far the different ports have had the same results. Some of the different ports I've tried:
80
8080
13011
13012
3000

Just checking but no chance that the LuCI default settings could be an issue correct? It seems that most of these settings carry over from the GL.iNet Admin Panel
For example Forward is listed as reject

Under Zones
There is no
WAN => LAN accept
