Mudi 7 - Telekom SIM card

It’s a standard SIM card that can be used in a router (business tariff).
I’ll make the necessary adjustments and let you know if that improves performance.
The same SIM card works without any problems in my old ZTE 5G router and achieves speeds of around 150 Mbps (that’s the maximum the ZTE router can manage).

Close to my case. I got several T-Mobile Multi-SIM that work well with nearly all mobile routers, e.g. your very own and wonderful Spitz AX, then also my ZTE U60 and my ZTE MU5120. I would love to replace all of them with my new MUDI 7. But so far it’s not possible.

Good morning,
It simply seems that the SIM card is unable to register fully, or rather that the speed isn’t being achieved.
When I look at the display, I don’t see any fluctuations between 4G and 5G; instead – at least on the display – I have a stable 5G connection.
However, when I check the web interface, the connection switches between 4G and 5G.
If I disable 5G completely, the 4G connection remains stable for a while and then drops in speed...If I restart the router, the connection remains stable for a few minutes, only for the speed to drop completely again.
At the moment, I can’t use the Mudi7 because I rely on 5G speeds, but these aren’t being delivered and the speed drops prevent me from using it productively.
What further information do you need from me to help pinpoint the fault?

Zero Problems with Multi sim from my Telekom Contract Card. The main sim is in my iPhone, the Multi in the Mudi 7.

Your Mudi 7 is likely using 5G NSA. Please access the admin panel -> NETWORK ->Multi-WAN, edit cellular interface settings and change detection mode to normal, and then see if it will stay on 5G.

I’ve been testing it for several days now and, out of frustration, switched back to my old ZTE router yesterday so that I could get back to working smoothly.
Although the speed has improved slightly, I’m still experiencing those ‘dropouts’ where there’s no traffic for several seconds before it starts working again.
Unfortunately, the remote desktop connection to the office always cuts out during those seconds too – it’s incredibly annoying.
What else can I try?

Hey Cathy,I’ve installed the new IPK, but unfortunately the dropouts are still happening. There’s always a period of about 3–4 seconds when no data is being transferred, then it works again for a few minutes, followed by another 3–4 seconds of dropouts.
When I use my iPhone or another 5G router, the dropouts don’t occur, so I can rule out my own equipment as the cause.

Thanks for the updates. We may need to get some cellular logs for analysis. Could you share device to support via Goodcloud so that we can have a remote check?

Hello, apologize for the delay but we have not found any records of abnormal disconnections. We tested the cellular speed of the router is around 100Mbps.

If the speed is slow, could you try connecting your phone via USB-C to see if it improves? This will help determine if the problem is related to the wireless configuration.

If frequent disconnections persist, could you plug a USB drive into the E5800 so we can capture logs related to the dropouts?

Good morning,
I’ve been testing it for a few days now and, unfortunately, the speed drops are still occurring, which means it’s not really possible to work properly.

It doesn’t matter whether I connect my devices via USB-C, LAN cable or Wi-Fi (devices = MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iPhone, Lenovo laptop, Dell laptop, standard desktop PC).

When I connect to the hotspot on my iPhone or my old ZTE 5G router, the speed is as expected and there are no drops or lags in speed. In my view, therefore, it can only be down to the Mudi7.

Do I have to plug the USB stick into a specific USB-C port, or does it not matter? What do I need to do to save the logs to it?

Just to confirm, will the network speed be restored after the restart? Or is it that the network speed has always been very slow?

The network speed returns to normal after a restart, and I have ‘fast internet’ for a short while.
Unfortunately, it then drops off again.
If I restart the router, I can enjoy the router’s actual speed and performance for a few moments before the network speed drops off again.

It doesn’t matter whether the connected devices are using a VPN or not.

Mudi 7 (GL-E5800) appears to ignore Wi-Fi country selection (GB) and remains locked to DE

Firmware / Model

  • Device: GL-E5800 (Mudi 7)

  • Region: EU model

  • Latest firmware

Issue

I changed the Wi-Fi country from Germany to United Kingdom as my country and different regs.

Using SSH:

uci show wireless | grep country

returns:

wireless.wifi0.country='GB'
wireless.wifi1.country='GB'
wireless.wifi2.country='GB'

However,

iw reg get

still reports:

phy#0 (self-managed)
country DE: DFS-ETSI

The global regulatory domain changes, but the Wi-Fi PHY remains on DE.

Observations

  • uci successfully stores GB.

  • iw reg get still reports DE.

  • wifi reload and reboot do not change this.

  • iwinfo wlan1 txpowerlist causes a segmentation fault.

  • The kernel log shows the Qualcomm regulatory subsystem handling regulatory events internally (WMI/REGULATORY messages), suggesting the radio is using a self-managed regulatory domain rather than the OpenWrt configuration.

Question

Is this expected behaviour?

If not:

  • Is there another location where the Wi-Fi country code must be changed?

  • Is the Qualcomm Wi-Fi firmware overriding the OpenWrt UCI setting?

  • Is this a bug in the current firmware?

I'd also like to know whether the EU model should honour GB or whether it is intentionally fixed to DE as im not in DE and restricted to DFS channels as per DE market.

DE signal ouput is significanlty reduced because of this. can you please fix this and allow users to set their own EU country as im limited on TX output because regulations in Gernamy are different to UK,GB

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Hello, is your SIM card on an unlimited data plan?

If it is not an unlimited plan, please help verify the following:

  1. Restart the router, navigate to the Cellular > Modem AT Command page, enter the following AT commands, and note the results:
    AT+QENG="servingcell";+QCAINFO
  2. When experiencing internet speed issues, run the same command again to check the current cell information:
    AT+QENG="servingcell";+QCAINFO

I have the same issue, GB reporting as DE and loss of 5GHz wifi channels 149-165

We tested this behavior on an EU version of Mudi 7 with firmware v4.8.5, and we were able to change the Wi-Fi regulatory domain from DE to GB successfully.

Could you please try applying the following commands again and check whether the result changes?
