Mudi 7 Tower scan - no 5G

Hi everyone,

I have a tower that gives better performance in my area but the modem doesn’t prefer it so I’d like to scan for the tower and lock it, but no 5G towers appear, only LTE. The UI recommends I disconnect first so I do, but still no 5G. When I am connected it cycles through a few 5G towers in my area including ones on N41 and N71. The behavior is the same even if I lock the modem to 5G towers only.

If I do the AT command to search for towers, it doesn’t report them either. I’ve seen them appear once or twice, but it seems to be once every 10-20 tries.

This seems to be a modem issue.

Hi,

Thank you for providing the detailed test results.

To help determine whether the scan result is related to the local 5G network mode or the current scanning conditions, please perform the following checks.

Could you please confirm with your SIM card carrier whether the 5G network available at your location uses NSA, SA, or both?
To test the 5G SA scan separately and avoid the SIM registration state limiting the scan results, please power off the Mudi 7, remove the SIM card, and then power it on again.
After that, please run the following command:AT+QSCAN=2,1
This command scans specifically for nearby 5G SA cells.
Could you please also provide the results of the following commands so that we can check whether the network mode or 5G frequency bands have been restricted:

AT+QNWPREFCFG="mode_pref"
AT+QNWPREFCFG="nr5g_band"
AT+QNWPREFCFG="nsa_nr5g_band"

Ok I’m finding that the issue might be with having two sims active. When Sim1 slot 1 has a sim, and SIM slot 2 is populated or ESIM is enabled, QSCAN=2 always returns an error and QSCAN=3 does not include 5G towers.
