Repeater for Flint 2

good morning, i have a flint 2 and I need a repeater. does it make sense to get another flint 2 or is it not necessary and i can get something cheaper? thanks

I would suggest buying just a cheap repeater which can only repeat - should be more reliable and more easy to use.

why more reliable? is there a product you feel like recommending? won't my network quality get worse?

It depends a bit on your needs but most likely a repeater (which does only repeating) is an easier product and does not run OpenWrt — which makes things more flexible but less easy mostly.

If your repeater is capable of 2 Wi-Fi modules per band, there won't be any speed decreasing.

You can buy used router that can be converted to openwrt and follow this guide. Just a hint, try first with 5ghz. It works great at least in my case. And I'm using 3 routers as extenders/repeaters.

In that case you can use nearly any GL router as well.

Yeah, but you can buy used routers for 1/3 or less of the price of mt6000 and flash openwrt firmware on it and use them as repeaters. I must say that this works really well. I have 100 mbps speed on aps for 300 mbps internet. That is way more than i had using some commercial routers in "mesh mode".
Edit:
Just out of curiosity I run speed test on windows comp connected to lan port of one of aps. I got 287 mbps download and on mobile phone connected to that ap using wifi 137 mbps download speed . It's not bad, not bad at all. At least for me.

If your AP only have 1 Wifi module it will be half the speed since repeating and sending / receiving will be each 50% of the time.

I believe it has two of them. I tested this on linksys ea8300
