Repeater mode disconnects clients (mt300n v2)

Hello,

I seem to have some trouble using wifi repeater mode on the mt300n-V2.

What happens is the following:

When I install the following firmware 3.204-1112 and have no wan cable connected, my wifi hotspot is on 2.4ghz, when I scan for a 2.4ghz wifi access point in repeater mode, the router becomes unresponsive and often restart or disconnect me from the mt300n’s AP, also no error message or anything is shown on the UI.

I have done some more testing, dns rebind protection is off, I also tried using manual dns settings rather than nextdns, and I also tried this with no vpn and all other above cases disabled.

Note that I only touch the repeater modus in gl-inet in its own ui, and only backtrace logs in luci.

Now I’m clueless why this happens however then I went checking the logs in luci:

Can somebody explain what the -5 is ment what wifi_join returns, is no error or is it?

I’m very happy if I can help, it seems the stable version of the firmware also had some minor issues with repeaters not sure if its the same issue, I’m glad if I can help.

The log “return=5” is not error.

MT300N-V2 is 2.4G only device. When it connects to other wifi as repeater, its own wifi will be affected and you may have disconnect.

Pls make sure the “auto scan and connection” option is enabled.
