Hello

I have one last question, the sfp+ port of Flint 4, supports both the GPON and XGS PON ??

Because for me I will have a connexion of 2gbs with an sfp huawei MA5671A, that I want to connect it directly to the Flint 4 sfp+ port

Hi,

The SFP+ port on Flint 4 is a high-speed pluggable interface; GPON or XGS-PON functionality itself is provided by the ONU/ONT stick.

Before proceeding, we would recommend checking with your ISP whether they allow customers to use their own SFP+/PON ONU modules on the fiber connection.
If they do, please also confirm which PON/ONU Stick models are supported or approved by your ISP, as the connection may depend on their network and authentication requirements.

I am already using a Huawei MA5671A GPON ONU with my ISP,and I have successfully configured it. The module authenticates correctly, establishes the GPON connection, and I have full Internet access.

My main question is whether the Flint 4 SFP+ port is compatible with this type of GPON ONU, since I’m currently using it through an external SFP-to-RJ45 media converter. I’d like to know if I can simply insert the Huawei MA5671A directly into the Flint 4’s SFP+ port and expect it to work the same way.

Another question : if my ISP upgrades me from GPON to XGS-PON in the future, would I simply be able to replace my current GPON ONU with a compatible XGS-PON ONU and continue using the Flint 4 ?

Thank you for the clarification.

The Flint 4 SFP+ port can be used as a WAN interface with an SFP+ ONU stick. We have tested most commonly used SFP+ ONU modules, and they can be properly recognized and used with Flint 4.

Yes. If your ISP upgrades the connection from GPON to XGS-PON, your current GPON ONU stick would also need to be replaced with an appropriate XGS-PON ONU stick.
