Here’s my layout: I’m setting up a portable PTZ camera system. It’s at a different location every day. I’ve set an MT600 as the main router providing it’s own subnet - no issue. have three PTZ cameras. Each connected to an SFT1200 as a repeater of the main MT6000 network so I can use them wirelessly, and remote. SFT1200’s do pass an appropriate IP from the MT6000 subnet to each camera, but I can’t see them on the MT6000 and I also need them assigned static IPs. I would assume I need to shut off DHCP on the SFT1200’s, but the interface doesn’t appear to have that as an option. The admin panel is v4.3.28. Firmware is up to date at 4.3.28. I would’ve thought that just setting the SFT1200 to ‘Repeater’ would do it. It appears not.
I can’t be logging into each SFT1200 to find out what IP is on each camera with every setup so I need to be able to see them on the main router.
Any idea what I’m missing? (I also understand I may need to make some adjustments in LuCi, but I’m a little lost in that environment.). Thanks for you help crew.
I believe you mean that the SFT1200 is configured in "Extender" mode rather than "Repeater" mode.
However, if the SFT1200 is functioning in Repeater mode, it is expected behavior that you cannot see the camera's IP address on the MT6000. This is because Repeater mode creates its own isolated network (subnet). Since only one camera is connected to the SFT1200, you might consider configuring a DMZ on the SFT1200; this would allow you to access the camera using the SFT1200's WAN IP address.
If the SFT1200 is configured in "Extender" mode, this behavior is also expected, as only the SFT1200 knows exactly which devices are connected to it. However, if the camera obtains its address via DHCP, you might be able to find its IP address on the MT6000 by navigating to Luci -> Status -> Overview -> Active DHCP Leases.
