A GL.iNet SlateAX running version v4.4.6 running a wireguard VPN connected via wifi to ISP router
At home server side, I have two routers
A router running provided by ISP(500Mbps coaxial) with port forwarding to my Opal (GL-SFT1200)
A Opal (GL-SFT1200) running a wireguard server and router on version v3.216 connected via cable.
Problem: I am wondering if I should upgrade my Client side SlateAX router? I'm worried as before i faced an issue where I upgraded my SlateAX(by keeping the user settings) and my wireguard client stopped working, I had to resort to buying a Mullvad vpn.
Now i tried deleting all the server and client settings on both routers and setting up from scratch and the connection seem to work but with less speeds(50Mbps).
I've read posts where users suggest to not keep the settings while upgrading the firmware.
What are the suggested approaches for upgrading and is it even suggested to upgrade firmware. I am just worried the new firmware fixes some DNS leaks bugs which may be happening.
Yeah but jump from 4.4.x to 4.6.x is quite the major jump right. Basically i skipped the whole 4.5 series. Your suggestion is that i should or should not keep settings?
