Spitz x2000 - how to extend the network wireless-to-wired

I have a Spitz x2000 in the front of a retail space and it is doing an excellent job with its Smarty sim giving wifi into the whole space.

However the POS machine needs ethernet and it is at the back of the space. So I need to extend the wifi to another AP or repeater that has an ethernet connection that can be added to the x2000 network.

What is the best device to do this? So far I have tried an Amplifi HD which was a nightmare to set up and then seemed to kill the wifi in the main area when I finally got the ethernet to repeat.

Then I tried an Fritz Box 3540. It just would not do normal repeater mode, only Mesh mode which the x2000 does not support.

I do have a gl-ar750s Slate router…will that do what I want- give me the x2000 network on an ethernet socket by repeating the main wifi? According to this thread no-one seemed to make it work:

I understand that GL-AR750S has a “repeater” mode, but I don’t want double-NAT nor do I want another physical AP in my flat network. Is it possible for GL-AR750S to act purely as a wireless-to-wired bridge for one wired host? (My WLC/AP doesn’t support WDS.)

Hi,

Yes, your GL-AR750S Slate should be able to provide a wired Internet connection to the POS terminal through the Spitz X2000 Wi-Fi.

Please, go to Internet → Repeater , and connect it to the Wi-Fi network broadcast by the Spitz X2000. Once the repeater connection is established, connect the POS terminal to one of the Slate’s LAN ports using an Ethernet cable.
The connection will be: Spitz X2000 → Wi-Fi → GL-AR750S Slate → Ethernet → POS terminal

The older thread you referenced discusses a more specific requirement: a transparent wireless bridge without an additional NAT layer, where the wired device must remain on exactly the same local network as the main router.
That is different from simply providing Internet access to an Ethernet-only POS terminal.

If you need the POS terminal to remain on the same local network as the Spitz X2000, you can try using the GL-AR750S in Extender Mode. Since the thread you referenced is relatively old and may involve earlier firmware versions, we recommend upgrading the Slate to the latest available firmware before testing this setup.
After upgrading, log in to the Slate’s Admin Panel, then go to: Network → Network Mode → Extender
Select the Wi-Fi network broadcast by the Spitz X2000 and enter its Wi-Fi password. Once the connection is established, connect the POS terminal to one of the Slate’s LAN ports using an Ethernet cable.
Go to LuCI: System > Advanced Settings

LuCI → Network → Firewall → Traffic Rules → Add
Configure the rule as follows:

• Name: Allow LAN to WAN
• Protocol: Any
• Source zone: LAN
• Destination zone: WAN
• Action: Accept

Then click Save & Apply.

Then You can check whether it receives an IP address from the Spitz X2000 network and can access the Internet.

I think I do not need the POS to be on the same network as you rightly say..so fingers crossed. I will report back later to confirm!

Success!

This worked first time and the POS works perfectly. There was no need to have the terminal on the same network so setting up was as simple as changing mode to ‘extender' mode’.
