using nordvpn with GL-AR750 router, on latest firmware
was consistently using vpn but then this error appeared yesterday:
Incoming Control Channel Authentication: Using 512 bit message hash ‘SHA512’ for HMAC authentication
TCP/UDP: Preserving recently used remote address: [AF_INET]154.47.17.25:1194
Socket Buffers: R=[163840->163840] S=[163840->163840]
UDP link local: (not bound)
UDP link remote: [AF_INET]154.47.17.25:1194
Do you have a OVPN profile using TCP you can try instead? Your current UDP-based one isn’t finding a socket to bind Nord’s remote UDP socket to your GL750 for proper UDP connectivity.
Using a TCP profile for an hour or so might clear it up by forcing Nord to assign a new remote address instead of choking on restoring a preserved one when you switch back to UDP.
(Side note: If Nord offers WireGuard, you’d get far more out of your Certa. The best I’ve gotten out of a OVPN/UDP connection was 35 Mbps when ‘hard wired’ but easily broke 85 Mbps on WireGuard using the latest firmware on my GL-AR750)
Thank you but you don’t need to feed my ego; it’s already big enough for the both of us.
Seriously though; look into giving WireGuard a go sooner than later; those Mbps speeds mentioned were from just last week’s testing for a VPN project I’m working on.
(GL-iNet states the Creta is only capable of 50 Mbps when using WireGuard for the VPN!)
it works on all other devices separately, no issues, same log in same type of tcp settings, nothing has changed no firmware updates, this is the first time this has ever happened in two years
