Trouble setting OpenNDS on the GL-MT3000 if the VPN is Enabled

Hi,
I am currently trying to set up a captive portal for my GL-MT3000, so guests don’t use my limited cellular service without verification. However, after installing OpenNDS, it successfully redirects clients to the portal, but only if the VPN configuration is disabled. If it is being enabled, or if it drops to reconnect, the firewall restarts, and the OpenNDS stops hijacking, allowing internet access. Restarting OpenNDS every time the VPN reconnects would constantly clear the client count. Keeping VPN disabled is currently the only fix, but I would prefer having the VPN enabled.

If anyone has a solution, please let me know.

Firmware: v4.9.1 (op25, beta 3)

Hi,

Sorry for the delayed reply.

You may try enabling the OpenNDS Firewall Restart Hook, which allows OpenNDS to automatically reinsert the required rules after the firewall is restarted:

Hi,
It is currently ON (1), but every time the firewall is refreshed on the interface, which is when the VPN is toggled on/off breaks the redirection, allows access to the internet. However, you can still access the page at http://status.client/. I can usually restart OpenNDS for every time the VPN is up or not, but that would mean the client authentication stats disappears, and the VPN interface over my network is not always stable, meaning it can drop. Also, it keeps reporting dnsmasq reloading failed in the logs.
