Trouble setting up Flint 3E as AP

Hello,

My network consists of a Flint 3 as the primary router (192.168.2.1) and a Flint 2 as an Access Point (192.168.2.2). This is all working as expected: the Flint 2 is in AP mode and broadcasting the same WiFi network as the Flint 3. I can access the Flint 3 at 192.168.2.1 and the Flint 2 at 192.168.2.2.

I’m trying to add a third device, a Flint 3E, also as an Access Point. Here are the steps I have followed:

  1. Connect the Flint 3E’s WAN port to one of the Flint 3’s LAN ports.

  2. Power on the Flint 3E.

  3. From my computer, connect to the Flint 3E’s WiFi network (GL-BE6500-4a2)

  4. Access the Flint 3E’s admin console at 192.168.8.1.

  5. Set the admin password.

  6. Leave the default WiFi configuration.

  7. The next screen comes up like this:

8. I click Exit then go to Network Setting > Network Mode. I set this to Access Point and click Apply.

9. Next, I get this message:

The Flint 3E reboots, but the light never goes solid white. It remains blinking blue.

I cannot see the Flint 3E in the Flint 3’s devices list.

I can reconnect to the Flint 3E’s WiFi network, but cannot access the admin console at 192.168.8.1. Since the Flint 3E does not show up in the Flint 3’s devices list, I can’t access it from the 192.168.2.0 network either.

What am I doing wrong?

Best,

Christian

Hi,

Thank you for providing the information.

When Flint 3E switches to AP mode, its own DHCP server will be disabled and it should obtain an IP address from the main router (Flint 3). Therefore, after switching to AP mode, it is normal that the original 192.168.8.1 address can no longer be used to access the management page.

Could you please restore Flint 3E to Router Mode, press and hold the reset button for 4 seconds to revert it to the default Router mode and try setting it to AP Mode again?
Before switching to AP Mode, please confirm whether Flint 3E is successfully connected to Flint 3 and has obtained an IP address from Flint 3.

If the issue still persists, could you please provide the LED status of Flint 3E and confirm whether Flint 3 can detect Flint 3E in the client list?

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Hi Charles,

This issue was resolved by rebooting the Flint 3. After this, the Flint 3E showed up in the Flint 3 devices list and I was able to access it via a 192.168.2.x IP address and confirm that it was in AP mode.

Best,

Christian
