Using Adguard Home elsewhere?

I'm thinking that maybe I should use Adguard Home elsewhere since it seems to be causing me problems from time to time. This way I can use my Beryl AX strictly as a router. I do agree with the notion that GL.iNet products have too little RAM. Heck, the Beryl AX has only 512MB. I'm already planning to build a home lab and build a separate OPNsense mini PC to play with. If I set up Adguard Home on an OPNsense PC or even on another PC with Docker, how do I link it with the Beryl AX so that there's ad blocking?

Docker is available on OWRT x86_64. Get that set up before looking into DNS forwarding. There's no sense learning two routing systems & OPNsense is based on FreeBSD rather than Linux. You'd also end up having to learn two different Unix-like OS's just for routing.

OWRT also runs on the RPi, NanoPI(s), btw.

You're telling me I should prioritize OpenWRT over OPNsense?

For networking — absolutely. If you want to unleash the full power & flexibility of your network(s), SBCs if not computing in general you're going to want to get into Linux sooner than later. 'Embedded Linux' — aka 'Linux for embedded devices' (eg: SBCs) — already has enough nuances.

I'll put it like this: embedded Linux is like speaking Yankee while Linux is like English. The BSDs, which includes FreeBSD (which OPNsense runs on), are like Spanish or French if not German. Would you prefer to learn an accent/dialect or a whole new language?
