VLANs

Hi All,

Well I like it, its fast.
Looking at the network config, it looks like each ethernet port is its own ethernet port i.e eth0, eth1, and the WAN I think is eth2.

So VLANs,

On my BERYL I had the normal LAN on VLAN 16, and a second VLAN 17. My WAN port tagged both 16 and 17 to feed into my VSphere box.

I need to replicate this.
I am guessing I do the following in LuCI:

  1. Create VLAN 16 under eth2 (WAN port) and bridge this to the BR-LAN.
  2. Create VLAN 17 under eth2.
  3. Add a new Interface containing eth2, so I can use the Slate to route on a stick.

Am I on the right track?

Thanks all
Simon

Hi All,

Hate replying to myself, I was just unsure of how to do VLANs without a switch in openvpn. Probably should have tried before posting.

It worked as I guessed.

Created 8021q device eth0.16 and replaced eth0 in br-lan with this device. I was able to see the VMs (and Vsphere) after this.

So VLANs work as well. Given the new UI to do them, perhaps remove Switch from the Advanced LuCI UI?

No idea if the GL.INET UI will try to sneak eth0 back into the bridge when I reboot. Hope not!

OK. This may be a unattended bug. @JerryZhao can you check?

Hi All,

Did a reboot and br-lan phyiscal devices were left alone.
So all good from my point of view.
