Which power bank to get for the Slate 7 and Beryl AX

I’m looking to get a power bank that is small enough to be carried together with the travel router. I want to be able to carry both together with one hand. Then get a 90-degree USB cable to connect them together. Good idea?

I use this because it does pass through.

How’s the fit?

What’s the battery life like?

I have the shorter, lighter, cheaper, 20,000mAh,100w version and it works well charging multiple devices and rapidly charging big ticket things. It's my go-to power bank but I never use it for the travel router. There are a few things to be aware of.

  1. Many airlines prohibit the use of power banks in-flight. The Mudi 750/ Mudi 7 will be a better candidate in that case. Power on airplanes is pretty hit-or-miss.
  2. Like all PD devices, if a new device is plugged in it will force a renegotiation of the power settings, and that will reboot the router. Using the separate charger avoids this.
  3. As long as the BerylAX is not powering other stuff, it never actually uses 3A, so this gizmo is overkill. You could try one of the vastly cheaper 10,000mAh15w power banks (two for $15) that aren't PD.

I guess I’m looking for a power bank that has a similar width and length as the Beryl AX or Slate 7.

The UGreen 100 is 140mm x 80mm, so 20mm longer than the AX and same width. The 145 is 160mm, or 40mm longer and same width. Both are a lot heavier than the AX. The 15w ones I looked at are 140mm x 70mm.

Weight isn’t an issue. I know a higher capacity battery will be heavier. I want the size roughly to be the same, and then I’ll use an elastic band or something to hold both together. Maybe Gl.one should make a travel router with a battery! @bruce @will.qiu

They do--it is called the Mudi. It works like the Beryl but adds two things--a cell connection and a battery. The 750 is kind of a single core Beryl but with the 4.8 software; the new 7 is more powerful.

Hi

Yes, if you're looking for a router with a battery, please check out the Mudi or Puli series.

Can you confirm the Mudi 7 can do everything the Beryl AX can, in addition to its cellular capabilities?

Can you confirm how much RAM the Mudi 7 has?

For the features provided by GL.iNet, I believe so.

At this time, I cannot disclose specific figures. Please wait for updates on the official website or after the product's official release.

However, in my personal opinion, it is more than sufficient for this type of portable device.

My gut feeling is telling me it'll be 512MB! :sob:

If it's that number, I'd say it's sufficient rather than "more than sufficient".

If I'm paying top dollars, I want it to perform well even in 5 years' time! I hope I'm wrong and there is 1GB!
