Will it be a new version of the Mudi?

Hello,

Thank you for your love to GL Mudi products.

PM teams are currently facing some hardware difficulties, and R&D are working hard to solve them. When the hardware is ready, the software will immediately invest resources.

We originally expected to launch the new Mudi (Mudi v3) in Q3 this year.
At present, I am not sure whether it will be released this year, but this product is already in development.
Let's look forward to its release this year or early next year.

I’d love to pick your brain. I want to swap my X3000 for a RM530 and pull its 520 into a mudi…

1 month till end of Q3

Hi, please count me in for beta testing and super early bird pre-order. Thank you Bruce!

Mudi V3 with a larger battery would be great. Sign me up for early bird offers.

Hi,

Mudi v3 release may have delays as currently encounters some hardware questions.
It is definitely a great product, worth spending some time building.

Regarding beta tests, super early birds, early birds and etc. info, to be fair, please follow the official website to participate. But there is not so fast.

To add to a wishlist (of a product that is likely already almost finished) I'm hoping the USB port for connecting an external device is USB-C now and it delivers enough power to handle my dual SSD drive. It can be powered by the USB-C data connection if there's enough power but I've been required to use an additional DC power with the Mudi and the Slate AX. This is an often overlooked feature so I hope GL.iNet considered it.

Well, the recently launched Slate 7 travel router supports USB-PD so let's see if they've done the same here. It would make even more sense to be present, given the general use case, IMO.

For me it would be Great the Mudi will hopefully have Tailscale capabilitiy.

I‘m looking forward for the mudi. It‘s for me as an offroad worker a Important device.

The power output of the USB port is generally designed to support one SSD driver.

A larger power output will generate more heat for router, which may not meet such high requirements given that it is a small portable router.

Can you tell what modem the MudiV3 will use? I’m interested if it will support IMEI changing as the previous Mudi models as it is the main reason I have bought your travel routers. Also would be nice to see better battery charging IC that would be safe to leave on external power.

Quectel module, but I think cannot be announced for the time being.

There will be better power management, and it is possible to plug in the power supply for a long time. I think Mudi v2 is also.

@bruce Can you give us any clues about launch timeline, is the MudiV3 planned for 2026 now?

It is likely to be launched in Mar 2026.

Thats a great news.

What size it will be? Something similar do pocket Mudi v2 or Extremly big like all 5G mobile wifi routers?

Sorry, we can't reveal the actual dimensions for now.

I think it will be slightly larger than the Mudi v2, as it will support 5G cellular and dual SIM!

How about esim?

Sure, it will be provided as one of the firmware standard features.
Even if the firmware is missing when it is first released, I think it will be added later firmware, but it will probably be provided in the first firmware.

I’m interested in this new version and my interest stems entirely from wanting a well-working tailscale/headscale gateway that’s portable and has an included battery.

A bonus would be to be able to leave it in the side of a bag for prolonged time, so considering what I’ve heard of v2’s temperature management, there is probably a long way to go here?

Considering that the new Mudi will be supported 5G cellular, the heat generation may be not less, so it needs to pay attention to the usage temperature.
