I have wireguard server(on beryl ax) setup in Korea. I also have a wireguard client(also on beryl ax) and I use this in Sydney. Everything worked smoothly for the first two weeks I was in Sydney mostly watching Youtube and was showing Korean ads. All of a sudden the Youtube started showing Australian ads from few days ago. I checked all the settings and I see WG status is all good. I even rebooted both devices. What could possibly be the issue???
Check your IP address using wireguard connection (whats my ip address)… should show your ip of your korean connection. If shows any other location, check that your device doesn’t connect directly to australian router. Also check if you have a DNS leak.
just that you use wireguard does not mean google can't track you.
And I mean google does really sophisticated tricks

devices at home with often a chrome browser, google home appliances they can bypass normal dns, if you did not enable dns hijacking it silently ignores system dns, and some apps might be using DoH which also sabotages dns hijacking, the only solution is then to blocking all their doh ip addresses in the hope it downgrades back to classic dns and then hijack dns as usual, I normally use banip for this as plugin.
Google is quite hard to test countries on, even if you had all the checkboxes checked, I'm sure google finds out a way to view you as a vpn user simply because it will know you switch frequently between countries due to how cellphones leave your home and enter it, and like what I see on Mullvad(which has a high probability chance to be detected) it forces you to login on youtube before you can watch any video.
This will mean you likely have to avoid logging in at google, and avoid using phones on wifi for most of the part, then comes fingerprinting you need a browser which can randomize it.
I‘ve done all the usual basic checks including IP checks, ddns leaks checks. Everything appears fine. One other hint may be when I test google map exact location, it shows my actual physical location wheras when I test my location with other map application it shows korea IP location. I suspect Google, Youtube is detecting location with other methods.
Google maps specifically uses GPS geolocation and/or mobile cell tower triangulation and/or known wifi spots triangulation, so it’s normal that it gives you your real location (specially if you are using map app on your cell phone). I’m not aware that google uses that info to other services locaton confirmation, but it’s possible. As @xize11 recommends, try connecting in airplane mode with only wifi enabled, so GPS and mobile tower location is not available, and connect through wireguard to some google services (including maps) to try to reset your location. If it’s not a mobile device, use ethernet cable connection to shut off wifi and avoid wifi triangulation.

Does your phone and PC share the same account? I have seen Google use my phone locations on as my PC location, when I use both on the same account.
