Wyze Camera App

Hello support. As I noted in my previous posts, have tried everything you mentioned. I have two of the same routers, one for this condo and one for traveling. I had the same results in with both routers.

tmplog.log.zip (3.5 KB)
Here is the log, the router rebooted twice. Once at 11:00 and once at 11:08. Each time the router shutdown, I was interacting with the Wyze App. Before that the router was up for 9 days without issue.

Let me know if there is anything else I can provide

Support, any thoughts on this?

Do you have anything connected to the USB port?

no, nothing connected to the USB port.
I am just about ready to give up on this router. Tonight the router went offline. If I power cycle it, the wifi comes back on for 2-3 then dies again. I am doing a factory reset, so hopefully I can get it working well enough so I can work tomorrow. It is hard to express my frustation with this situation.

After a fair amount of troubleshooting. I rebooted my Macbook, now the router is stable again. As long as I don't interact with the Wyze app of course.

I just don't understand what about my Macbook could possibly have caused the wifi router to crash continuously? This router seems so fragile.

I genuinely appreciate the operating system and the ethos of supporting small businesses and open-source projects. I am contemplating upgrading the router, but I am hesitant. It has been longer than 30 days, so I am unable to seek a refund. I am also concerned that I might encounter the same issues with a new device. Since I don’t know if this is software or hardware related.

Frustrated and exhausted

I bought a Wyze camera and will test. Please wait a little bit.

What I can suggest is that we exchange one model for you to try at the same time.

I have two AC 1300 routers. One for home and one for traveling. They both experience the same issue with the Wyze application.
I will wait to see to see the results of your testing.

I am using Wyze cam v4 now with A1300.
A1300 with firmware 4.5.9, repeater to my home wifi.

Played for hours and don't have any problem.

As in your previous post, you connected the router to the Internet via Ethernet cable, right? Appreciate that you can try repeater to your main wifi.

On the same time, can we send one MT3000 so that you can try?

The only issues that I can think of is:

  1. Power adapter. Generally if the power adapter can only output 1A it may not be enough and cause reboot. But you said you have tried different.
  2. The Etherent cable. Sometimes Etherent has compability issues so if you try WiFi repeater it will work fine.

A summary of everything that I have tried.

  • I have two wifi SSID's. One for my devices and one for IOT devices. The IOT devices need to be on 2.4GHz network.
  • I have tried the following troubleshooting steps, probably more.
  • I have two GL-A1300 travel routers. One for traveling and one for a part time residence. I am experiencing the same issue with both routers.
  • I have updated to the latest firmware and the beta version
  • I tried with the ad blocker turned on or off
  • I have turned off all of wifi connections except for the 2.4GHz wifi
  • I have adjusted the power settings of the wifi
  • I have adjusted the wifi power, mode and bandwidth
  • I swapped out the network cable
  • I tethered my phone and disconnected the ISP on the WAN port
  • I disabled the wyze vacuum and wyze door bell in the router
  • I don't have any apps or plugins are installed
  • No VPN's are running
  • No other advanced setting, it is a pretty basic setup
  • When I run speed test, I get good bandwidth
  • I have tried three different power supplies, one behind an UPS one plugged straight into the wall
  • I have an iPhone 14 and MacBook. If I use the Wyze app on either device the router crashes and reboots
  • I can connect my phone to cell network, establish a WireGuard VPN into this router, then interact with the Wyze app with no issues

I would love the opportunity to try the MT3000. How do we proceed?

I just thought of one thing I didn’t try. Since I have 2 routers, I can try this at my home network as well. I can test this in 2 or 3 days.

Ok, so since I have two A1300 routers, I tried this at my home, not the condo. I tethered the router to my phone. Connected to the Wyze app, a few minutes later. The router crashed. Just like at our condo.

I configured the MT3000 router. Tethered it to my phone, I couldn't get the router to crash. I stayed connected for about 30 minutes. I interacted with the Wyze app in every way I could think of. The router was stable, without issue.

I can't explain this, it is the strangest bug, but I would consider this issue resolved. Thank you for sending out the MT3000 router. I appreciate the support and thank you for creating such a fantastic device, I just love all of the features, pricing and support. Another satisfied customer.

Are you tethering the iPhone's network to the router while also using wyze app on the phone?

Seems at the beginning you are not using phone tethering. The tethering does needs more power from the router and maybe that caused the router cannot have enough power.

I was just tethering my phone so I wouldn't be using double NAT at my primary home.

At our condo, when I would interact with the Wyze app, I could be connected to our cable company or tethering, either way the router would crash.

I will be at our condo on April 25th, I will install and test the new routher then.
