X-3000 Sim not registered

Hello,

very recently my GL inet X3000 (Spitz AX, 5G version), does not connect to mobile carrier networks. The error is always „Sim is not registered“.

I have tried different Sim cards (both work in different phones and an older Cat4 Router), tried different APNs, set TTL to 65 and tried all authentication methos (CHAP, PAP, PAP / CHAP). I also updated the modem and the firmware. I tried a downgrade to different older firmwares as well.

The error message stays the same, even after a factory reset. Yesterday i had some connection, but after a rebot over night lost the connection again.

Is there any way to get my router to correctly connect to the carrier network?

Have you checked if your "mobile carrier" start to enforce policy of matching both SIM with IMEI for proper registration? If so, your x3000 needs to spoof the IMEI your ISP is expecting.

Thank you for your answer. In Germany no carrier enforces specific IMEIs.

And as I said, I can use the SIM in different phones, as well as in an old CAT4 Router and the sim instantly registers with the carrier network.

Understood, you case maybe from totally different reason.

My post is from an angle of a possibility. Take US tmobile as an example, it can detect if the sim is coming from phone or router, carrier does not enforce SIM registration restriction if from a phone,

But if the sim is registered for internet service use, not phone, as the ISP also provides router to customer, TMobile keeps both the sim and router IMEI information. In case your Cat4 router is from ISP (as I do not know where you router comes from), then this sim will register from phone or the router ISP provided router if the ISP enforce the policy, but not from another router (unless, the new router spoof the ISP provided router's IMEI).

Yes my mobile router is from the same provider, but I tried a different LTE Stick as well and it connected right away. So I don’t think, that the problem is by my ISP (Vodafone Germany) to block my router.

The funny thing is: a few days ago the sim connected and registered right away. I just had to do a factory reset, as I couldn’t ssh into the routers file system to create an additional SSID for my Sonos System. After that the registration failure has come up.

Sadly I forgot to create a backup before resetting the router.
