I just purchased a fine iNet X750 mobil router to realize a DDNS/VPN connection to my camper van’s network.
Thought that it should be easy to configure but that seems not be the case.
I enabled the VPN Server as well as the DynDNS Service on the device. I also downloaded the VPN Client config-file and installed it in the OpenVPN App on my iPhone.
But whatever I do (incl. adding the correct APN (internet.eplus.de) and PAP data for the mobil connection), I’m not able to connect to the VPN Server from my phone.
What I found is, that the provider-IP I see in the SIM-Configuration is other (10.179.xxx.xxx) than the IP the DDNS service seems to be using (176.1.xxx.xxx), what for sure is also said in a respective pop-up, when starting the DDNS test on the router.
I also already spend respective investigation in the WWW and ended up there with the info, that IPs from the mobil providers seems to be providing only private IPs to mobil connections, whereas I would need a public one.
But how can I tackle this now?
In addition I connected the x750 to the GoodCloud, but which also showed, that 2 different IPs are in usage on the device (the device IP 176.1.xxx.xxx AND the cellular IP 10.179.xxx.xxx)
Hi @admon!
Thanks a lot for your confirmation!
Following up with my investigations I exactly ended up with this services
I already configured now AstroRelay (via ssh on the router) and it works great. I’m already able to access the router’s admin panel and also the start page of my van’s future smarthome server.
I’m just checking now how I can free up a bit more of memory space on the router, as there is now only 440 KB free and I have no clue if that might lead to problems in the future
Sorry, another question as I’m cleaning up the system a bit.
I found that sudo (ca. 400KB) ist installed on the router, but I’m asking myself for what it is needed? Mostly all processes running on the device are running under root.
Do you see any issues when removing it?
You are right, but this is wondering. Because yesterday I already removed the VPN- and den Wireguard Server and this gave around 90KB additional space.
When now removing sudo, the free space decreased about 15KB.
Not logical for me, but however. The router is running stable and external access by AstroRelay is possible. I will now concentrate on additional remote access on an iPad in the mobil-router network, … we will see …
Thanks for your help!
