When will the Slate 7 Pro (GL-BE10000) router be supported?
Hi
Please refer to:
Will we have to wait at least another six months for amnesiawg 2.0?
Not necessarily a full six months, but AmneziaWG 2.0 support for Slate 7 Pro is currently planned as part of firmware v4.10, which is tentatively expected around Q1 2027. We do not have an exact release date or a separate v4.8.x update for this feature to confirm at this time.
As a temporary option, the current firmware can use an AmneziaWG 1.0-style profile with single fixed values for H1–H4. Profiles containing H1–H4 ranges, S3–S4, or I1–I5 require AmneziaWG 2.0 support.
If your server or provider can generate a v1.0-compatible profile, you may be able to use that until v4.10 becomes available.
In my country, every provider uses technical means of countering threats that block any VPN protocol simpler than AmneziaWG 2.0 or Reality VLESS.
Oh wow, this is really disappointing news! What caused GL.iNet to abandon v4.9 for the Slate 7 Pro? So basically it'll be stuck on v4.8 until Q1 2027?!
Im finding Amnezia protocol 2 blocked more and more lately.
Vless/Xray is the only way out from quite a few of these for me now.
We have already introduced v4.10 beta support on some models, such as the BE9300 and BE3600. Therefore, spending additional effort to add v4.9 support for the BE10000 and then upgrading it to v4.10 afterward would not make much sense and would require more development time.
We are therefore more inclined to provide v4.10 support directly for the BE10000.
The problem is that most of the major new features won't be available for the Slate 7 Pro until next year.
We understand why this is disappointing, especially when you purchased the Slate 7 Pro expecting access to the latest features.
To clarify, firmware development for the Slate 7 Pro has not been abandoned. The current plan is to move it directly to v4.10 instead of spending additional time on an interim v4.9 port and then repeating much of the migration work.
We sincerely appreciate your patience and your feedback. We will share further information once the v4.10 release plan for the Slate 7 Pro is more firmly confirmed.
This is going to be a hard sell for Q4 2026. In Western countries, Black Friday and Christmas is an important time of the year. The difference between v4.8x and v4.9x is huge! I understand GL.iNet’s position, but it’s surprising that the Slate 7 has more updates even though it uses Qualcomm technology. I thought the Slate 7 Pro’s MediaTek chipset would enable faster updates. Guess not.
Thank you for your candid feedback. We understand your concern about the current timing.
Firmware integration and stability validation requirements vary between models. For the Slate 7 Pro, we are focusing on completing and stabilizing its v4.10 firmware rather than releasing an interim v4.9 build, so the release cycle is taking longer.
In the meantime, although the Slate 7 Pro remains on v4.8, it has already received several features introduced in v4.9, including DPI. While this does not eliminate every disparity, we consider the remaining feature gap manageable throughout the transition to v4.10.
Is DoQ available on the Slate 7 Pro?
Yes and no.
If you mean DoQ support under Admin Panel → Network → DNS, then Slate 7 Pro does not support it yet.
However, you can configure DoQ as the upstream DNS server in AdGuard Home, which can achieve a similar result.
Yes, I mean under the admin panel. Will DoH/3 be added to the admin panel in a future firmware update? I remember you said there's a workaround to enable it, but it's clunky and not user-friendly. The best solution is to have it as an option alongside the existing DoH and DoQ solutions.
Yes, DoQ support will be introduced in a future firmware update for the Slate 7 Pro.
I know DoH will be added in the future because you told me. I'm talking about DNS-over-HTTP/3.
Oh, I misunderstood what you meant. I mistakenly read DoH3 as DoQ.
At the moment, DoH3 is not officially supported, but we will discuss it with our product team and see whether we can provide support in the future.
For now, we are taking a cautious approach, as QUIC support and compatibility are still not ideal across many tools and carrier networks.
Did you misunderstand what I meant before? I think you said I have to use SSH to add DNS-over-HTTP/3?
DoQ is working great in my network on the supported devices. You're just missing DNS-over-HTTP/3 to give your customers all the possible secured DNS solutions. DoT and DoQ can be easily blocked. My understanding is that DNS-over-HTTP/3 is harder and uses QUIC as an underlying technology. I sincerely hope you'll pass this request to your technical team.I'll be asking about the progress in the coming months!
Thank you for the suggestion.
However, DoH3, like DoH / DoT / DoQ, uses modern TLS/SSL encryption algorithms to protect data in transit from being decrypted by third parties. Therefore, in terms of security, it should not be fundamentally different from the other encrypted DNS protocols.
