I’ve been using the GL-M2 modem for some time now, and I’ve noticed that occasionally it gets stuck in a state where it’s connected but doesn’t have internet access.
It would be great to have an option to automatically reset the modem when this state persists for a certain period, such as 5 minutes. This would force a new connection with the carrier, eliminating the need for manual intervention or constant status checks.
This feature would significantly improve user convenience and ensure a more reliable connection.
In this state, it is possible that you are actually in a connecting state, but forcibly re-establishing the connection may affect existing network services, such as video conferencing.
Thank you for your feedback. I understand your concern about the modem occasionally getting stuck in a connected-but-no-internet state. To clarify, I’m not suggesting a full reboot of the device, but rather a targeted reset of the modem using AT commands . This would allow the modem to re-establish its connection with the carrier without disrupting other network services or requiring manual intervention.
The interface shows as UP , and the modem has an IP address, but it fails the NQA/IP SLA Ping Test . In such cases, a simple modem reset via AT commands often resolves the issue by forcing the modem to reconnect to the carrier.
To further improve user convenience, I suggest implementing an automatic reset mechanism. If the modem remains in this problematic state for a specified period of time (e.g., 5 minutes), the system could automatically issue the AT command to reset the modem. This would ensure a quick resolution without requiring manual intervention, while still minimizing the impact on other network services like video conferencing or ongoing sessions.
This approach would provide a more seamless and reliable solution, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity and enhancing the overall user experience.
