I have just purchased the GL-iNet AC1200 Wireless Travel Router and I'm trying to set it up for use in my apartment. I have it connected to the apartment building's WiFi through the repeater method. It says it's connected, shows the blue dot, WiFi bars, etc. However I can't even open a single web page and Windows shows no connection. I only have the 2.4GHz WiFi running, but trying with the 5GHz WiFi results in the same problem. Turning network acceleration on or off also doesn't change anything. Finally, I'm not using any applications, VPNs or anything on the router; just the WiFi. How do I fix this?
How about the ping?
ping www.google.com
ping 1.1.1.1
If the domain name cannot reachable, please manually config the DNS 'google' (8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4) in GL GUI > NETWORK > DNS.
BTW, is the model SFT1200?
AFAIK ... repeater connection OK. Network mode is it set to "Router" or "Extender" ?
If Extender, the client may fail to get a DHCP IP address from the apartment building's WiFi.
Sorry, I was in a terrible car accident and could not respond. I am almost fully recovered now and continuing to work on this issue. Here are my updates:
I changed the DNS to Google's.
Pinging Google/1.1.1.1 led to a 100% loss in packets.
I've had Router selected for it.
Yes, it does seem to be a SFT1200.
I also tried overriding its MAC address using my laptop's, but that did not change anything either.
Attempting to pin Google/1.1.1.1 still leads to 100% packet loss.
However, searching on Google leads to results and images, but when clicking on a webpage it won't load.
The admin panel says I am about 2KB/s up and 25KB/s down.
Is the repeater relaying the superior 5G WiFi, or 2.4G WiFi?
If the PC is connected to the higher-level WiFi, how much speed can it be obtained? Is it normal to access any network?
a bit strange, can it access Google web page, but can't ping google.com?
