Access from Android

Accessing Comet via a browser from Android.

Can't see the display output at all. I've tried FireFox, FireFox Nightly, Edge, Chrome - no dice.

Any thoughts on whether there's any particular settings I need to change, or an Android browser that would work?

Can you describe your access method?
If you access via LAN, you can try to enter the full domain name https://glkvm.local
Or some mobile phones do not support mdns. You can try to access using the IP address.
If you need to access remotely on a mobile phone, you can try tailscale+chrome

Hi.

I am able to get to the WebUI and login just fine. The issue is that where there should be display output showing, there is just a white-space. This problem does not occur when accessing via my laptop. From an Android tablet, or smartphone, the only browser I can get to work is Samsung Internet(!). However, interacting with the display is non-functional.

I note that GLKVM is based on PIKVM. On PiKVM, the recommendation for access from Android is to enable a VNC server built in to PIKVM. The same VNC server does not seem to be a part of GLKVM, so I wanted to check if there is a different access method recommended for Android users with the Comet.

What's the model of your Android phone?

I have tried from two devices. One is a Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ The other, a Samsung Galaxy S22+

Is this fail on lan access?

If so, wonder if router is the issue,??

I am able to connect to the Web UI.

The display output does not appear at all on most android browsers. I have got display output when using Samsung Internet browser, however I am unable to interact.

I suspect that we either need a UI optimisation for smartphone & tablet browsers, or a dedicated app for Android and iOS, or the VNC server option (PIKVM offers this).

What you seem to be saying is you believe android browsers aren't HTML compatible.

Did you try desktop modes?

Never heard about lan or wan.

Not at all, merely that certain capabilities such as rendering the screen output don't seem to be supported in certain android browsers. Switching between desktop or mobile modes makes no difference.

Accessing on lan rather than remote over wan makes no difference.

I'll have to try it if I get a chance soon.

This post interesting to me and I tested little. I can see the remote screen (Windows PC) from Pixel tablet (Google Chrome) on my local network.

I guess you need to adjust screen resolution, for example (for my case), set 1920x1080 and select "Duplicate these screen" at Windows, then select same resolution at EDID of GLKVM.

I can also observed some of resolution set shows completely white, red, or something like that, so, choosing right resolution might be a key.

Anyway, this is my opinion though, at the moment it does not seem to have been designed with access from mobile devices in mind, and the usability feels completely unusable. (Virtual Keyboard key input works, but look at the size of the keyboard...)
