Access point on Spitz AX (GL-X3000)

I’ve just ordered a Spitz AX (GL-X3000) to use on a boat and will connect the WAN side to marina WiFi hotspots and 4/5G. I’ll be using external antennae up high for WiFi and 4/5G and would like to install a wireless AP inside the boat for clients to connect to, so that the clients’ WiFi coverage is down below in the boat and the external antennae are only be used for connection to the marina hotspot WiFi. So I know I connect an access point to the LAN port, but can I then I then turn off the client wireless access on the router, but obviously still have the router and external antennae being used for connecting to the external hotspots? Seems like an obvious configuration but I can’t find anything describing this in the docs. Thanks all.

Sure. The Spitz AX is able to disable iown Wi‑Fi AP while still enabling repeater to connect to the marina's Wi‑Fi hotspot.

This idea is correct because the Spitz AX’s Wi‑Fi antenna may be mounted outside the cabin to receive the marina’s Wi‑Fi and 4/5G signals better, and a separate AP inside the cabin provides the client Wi‑Fi so that clients get in indoor signal from the AP, rather than outdoor.

Thanks for the quick and positive response. Is there a GL AP that you can recommend that would work seamlessly with this router? Only has to cover a small space obviously, but be good if the unit was wall mountable so that it could go inside a cupboard securely next tot he router. Would need to be 2.5 and 5Ghz but maybe that is a given nowadays anyway.

Any router or dedicated AP will be compatible, you can freely choose anyone you want.

Is it possible to use a USB Wireless adapter as an access point? Just thinking of simplicity of installation and power supply. This is recognising that I only need to cover a small space, but performance may be limited.

Does not support USB wireless adapters, and the signal is easily blocked because its power is too low.

If you want a good user experience, I think a normal router or access point is better.

Thanks for advising. Apprecaited.
