Hi there,
I have purchased a new Flint 2 router (Sufficient enough for now) and asking myself what Hardware I should use as additional access points or repeater?
I have fibre optic for my home broadband 900/900 and most of my devices are wifi 6 and a few wifi 5 so no wifi 7 as of yet. I have seen the GL-MT3000 and think that would make a good access point but maybe too good for an AP?
would be curious what you all think.
Thanks in advance
Hi
I think it ultimately depends on your budget and specific use case.
The GL-MT3000 is a travel router, so besides using it at home as an access point, you can also bring it along when traveling to create a separate network isolated from public Wi-Fi.
The device is within my budget, I am just wondering if they both fit well together or is there a different model more appropriate? I will get today the main router and will then see the actual coverage to determine how many access points/repeater I need to cover everything. Currently I run an ASUS RT-AC86U & an ASUS RT-AC68U in a Mesh and it covers the house and part of the garden but the coverage could be stronger in some areas.
Both AP and Extender modes should work properly.
If you plan to use WDS mode, we recommend purchasing an additional Flint 2 unit, as cross-chip compatibility tends to be poor.

Please also note that the MT3000’s coverage may not be as strong as our home router series, since it has only two antennas, while home routers typically feature four.
