Add Quad9 TLS

Please consider adding Quad9 TLS to the dns provider drop down as an alternative to Nextdns and cloudflare?

Thanks. I will collect this request. May I know why you necessary to require this provider? Or is it just to perfect the options?

Not sure about the op, but this is my reason to use quad9: Quad9 blocks known malicious domains, protecting your device from malware, phishing, and other threats.

+1 for quad9 - as mentioned above. They have malware filtering by default which is far greater at blocking compared to cloudflare security DNS.

On a side note. If your router model supports adguard then you can insert the DoT / DoH for quad9 in the upstream DNS settings and use Quad9 that way.

+1 from me also for Quad9 but it would be better to have the option for custom TLS.

That probably makes more sense but then I guess user error could cause problems. I guess an advanced checkbox could potentially unlock a custom field though.

As for Quad9, they are a independent global provider of DNS services, with a hyper focus on security and anonymity. When I am traveling with my travel router, I can't think of two more important things. Also, they offer three different types of DNS services:

  1. Their standard service, comes with Malware Blocking, DNSSEC Validation (ip 9.9.9.9)
  2. A 2nd option is: Malware blocking, DNSSEC Validation, [ECS enabled], You can read more about ECS on their website, but can be very beneficial for streaming services on certain networks. (ip 9.9.9.11)
  3. A 3rd option is: Unsecured: No Malware blocking, no DNSSEC validation (probably not the best option for your user base. (ip: 9.9.9.10)

Another reason for Quad9, taken right from their website: "Quad9 blocks lookups of malicious host names from an up-to-the-minute list of threats. This blocking action protects your computer, mobile device, or IoT systems against a wide range of threats such as malware, phishing, spyware, and botnets, and it can improve performance in addition to guaranteeing privacy."

Quad9 also provide similar or better routes to their DNS services than Cloudflare or NextDNS, when traveling on different networks, this can be very beneficial.

Based on the number of times Quad9 was requested in your forums, it seems like your user base would welcome Quad9 as a pre-configured DNS provider, as well, as a customizable option, because there are alot of great DNS providers out there. Yes, Quad9 and a more advanced, customizable option, would perfect the DNS TLS choices available in your software.

@bruce What do you think? Can we get Quad9 added to the list of TLS DNS providers? And maybe an advance customer section to? For the more advanced users that prefer a different TLS DNS provider?
