Adding Wi-Fi to MV1000 Brume

The 0422 one is already the latest version.

Can you pls check its ID as mentioned in this post? You can check in Linux or Windows.

Or ssh to MV1000 and use lsusb. If the command is not found, install it first.

opkg update
opkg install usbutils
lsusb
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 2357:0120 TP-Link
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub

Pls check on your windows pc. It is not recognized by MV1000

I see. I’ll borrow my sister’s PC.

Thank you. How is the driver updated?

Nevermind, I see the kmod-8811au in the package manager. Re-installed and rebooting now.

What am I supposed to do with the attatched .zip archive?

edit: I installed the .ipkg through opkg install and my T2U plus is working! Thank you!

I’m very sorry to reply you so late.At present,The firmware support AWUS036AC/AWUS036ACS by default.

Brume w/ the Alfa AWUS036ACS adapter (got from Amazon) is working without any issues on firmware 3.102-0422. Plugged it in, restarted the router, and then it was recognized and appeared in the UI.

Will these adapters work with other Gl.iNet routers with stock firmware or only with the MV1000?

At present,Only MV1000 support wifi-dongle.

Hi @lizh

Have your DWA-171 arrived? Hope it is Version C like mine.

Sorry, DWA-171 have not supported by default.

Hi @lizh @alzhao
Just bought an Alfa AWUS036ACS, plugged into Brume. Rebooted.
However, the Wireless Client menu does not appear. Running the Adguard firmware version.

How to proceed?

It’s ok.

Use openwrt-mv1000-emmc-3.103-0527, and it works!
Superb!!

Great work and confirm both Alfa dongles are working with no issues at all. Will this embeded WiFi support be an ongoing part of future firmwares or is it only experimental for certain firmware versions?

WiFi support will be in the default firmware from now. The router can identify if it is internal WiFi or external WiFi dongle. But as the WiFi driver is installed, WiFi support will always be true.
