AdGuard Home : Synchronise two instances (GL.iNet & à docker one on another server)?

Hello,
I want to use AdGuard Home on Flint2 (after updating it to the latest version with a script found on this forum) but I want a fallback on an another server on my LAN in a docker container.

But I want the two AdGH servers to be synchronised.

I’ve done such a thing between two docker container with AdGuard-sync but I don’t know how to do the same with the instance on my flint2.

Can somebody help me ?

Thanks in advance :innocent:

Probably it like

  1. Both install the AdGuard-Sync
  2. Configure DNS Fallback in Flint2 AdGuard Home, set the Docker as a fallback DNS server, and vice versa.
  3. Check firewall rules to allow traffic between the two AdGuard Home instances.

Would like to hear suggestions from other users.

I may try to do that.
But for now, I just try the AdGuard Home on the Flint2 after synching from a docker container. Not entirely successful.

But why the DNS response time is so high?

In comparaison, the instance I have on a docker proxmox VM:

How can I clean the Flint2 installation to start from scratch?

Reset to factory settings.

I also feel weird about the DNS response time, did the router enable the VPN client?

Ouch, resetting the whole router only for adguard... I don't know if I want AdGH this much on the Flint2...

If by "VPN client" you mean the router in client for a VPN, no.
But I set up Wirfeguard and OpenVPN server on the router, and some clients connect to it.

If the same DNS IP address of GL router and NAS docker, it is not supposed to be such a big difference between them.

As the DNS from NAS docker ADG -> LAN -> GL Router -> WAN -> out, and DNS from the LAN -> GL Router ADG -> WAN -> out, they are close to.
Self-check please, as I did not quit know the topology.

You can reset AGH without resetting the whole router - if you know what you are doing. But it requires SSH access and knowledge.

Hello,

I don't understand what you said :bowing_man:

I know how to use ssh access and ssh commands.
But I don't know what to delete

Everything is stored in /etc/AdGuardHome/
Removing the data folder should be sufficient - but maybe you need to adjust the config.yaml as well.

 Dual ADG instances configuration may seem difficult. Would like to ask why you need this?

Hello :wave:t2:
I want to have a backup dns server in case if the primary fails .

I can do that without problem with two docker AdGH on two differents machines.

I’ll try to remove the data folder as @admon said.
But for the config.yaml , us there somewhere a vanillia file (without any modifications) ?

config.zip (1.3 KB)
Export from the MT6000, ADH v0.107.46

Hello,
Thank you very much
The only thing I lack, now, is time :mantelpiece_clock:
