Admin password stop working after router reboot - GL-BE3600

I just got the GL-BE3600. This is my fifth router from GL.iNet.

I set everything up and was prompted for a firmware upgrade. I went ahead and did it, keeping my config. After it finished, the admin password stopped working. I figured the old config didn’t import correctly after the upgrade. No big deal, I had only set up a few VPNs.

I did a factory reset from the button, logged back in, and set everything up again. Ran some tests, everything looked fine.

Then I unplugged the router to test it with a battery bank. It booted up, Wi-Fi and internet were working, but I couldn’t access the admin panel again.

At this point I thought maybe I was losing my mind. I power-cycled it just in case. Same issue.

So I did another factory reset. Now I’m a bit annoyed since I had already spent about two hours setting everything up. I set the password again, even copied it into Notepad to be sure. Configured Wi-Fi, DHCP, tested again, then did a power cycle…

And guess what? The password stopped working again.

I can’t be the only one experiencing this.

I’m a little bit scared that this is those weird stuff that happens only to me, and I will spend hours trying to find what could be, so I’m just rolling the dices here, before returning the router.

Thanks in advance to anybody reading this

Well after downloading the latest firmware, and flashing the router without keeping the config, looks like is working.

Something broke from the firmware that came, and updating to the latest and keeping config.

Now… Luci does not work but thats another post
