I purchased the comet with control board to be able to connect remotely to my homeoffice pc, just to find out that if it is not a headless pc, it will report this as a 3rd and 4th monitors on it, and that previous to each connection I have to connect via chrome remote desktop to mirror said monitors in order to get it to be the main display.... what????? unless I'm missing somehing, this thing is intended for headless units only? can this be fixed? IMO it should be exactly like the windows remote desktop, a complete takeover instead.
Monitor mirroring usually only needs to be set up once. You can also use the WIN+P key to quickly set up screen duplication.
True, but the problem is not the monitor mirroring itself, but having to change the resolution of the native monitor which is, 7680X2160... until this is fixed (if even possible) the best solution for normal usage, will be RDC. Basically the only advantage will be (although not small) pre windows features, if and only if you have remote switch accessories.
Does your computer output 8K resolution by default? Is there any converter in between? Usually the computer and KVM will automatically negotiate a resolution that both can support.
setup is a 57" samsung and a 32", one is double 4K and the other is 4K. The KVM added 2 more "monitors" on the settings dialog, one is a 4K display and the other is a "2K" whenever I mirror any of them to the main 57" monitor I can choose between going with the resolution of double 4K or the native for whatever virtual display I chose, so, as I said before, I'm stuck between changing said resolution when I use remotely at the office, and then change it again when I get home... Instead, there should be an option for full takeover like RDC, where the remote displays would not even exist while being remotely controlled, this would even prevent an app from opening on the "wrong" monitor on multi display setups. As stated before this KVM seems to be a solution only for headless systems. I hope this can be fixed in the near future, not only because it would meet my needs perfectly, but also because I have just a short period to return it before I loose my money on the wrong solution for me. truth is that I can only benefit right now from the remote on part
KVM cannot intervene in the system behavior of the target computer, therefore, we are unable to provide a quick solution for your application in the short term. To avoid your losses, you can return the device.
thnak you for the honest info
