Hi - I have a 5090 home machine that I use on my Work Laptop - currently using AnyDesk software. I find it too laggy - I am using it from 3 different places Home, Work, Beach every week. I bought the GL-RM1 and it's working at home over the lan, but to use it from the other two locations i currently need to install either Tailscale or the Web App. However I have no permissions on my work laptop to install either software. I can install anything from the Microsoft Store - and Whatsapp / Spotify / Anydesk all install fine with no Admin Blocker - but I can't install the apps for remote access to GL-RM1 - are there any other ways to connect that might work?
Access without APP is expected to be supported in mid-July
If you want to remotely access RM1, you need to rely on GL Web APP or Tailscale to connect to your RM1 at present.
If this two software cannot be installed on your work laptop, you can use a GL travel router that supports Tailscale, such as MT3000. After it enabled Tailscale and join the network, it will access RM1 through Tailscale.
But if using Tailscale, your remote access quality is related to Tailscale's networking quality.
It may be better to have a remote experience using the GL Web APP.
Thank you - I will try and persuade my work to allow the GL Web App.If not I will hold on until the July solution.
You'd think VPN over app would be approved.
I'll find out this morning...
Ok - so my IT department allowed both the APP and Tailscale on my machine. Tailscale works ok. But the APP when I launch it - always asks for Admin permission to launch every time - and when I got that, and tried to set it up - when it ran it then tried to access a directory in the admin login - rather than my user account. So I have no way to run this app.
Maybe your system account does not in the Administrator
group.
Try to change the installation path of APP to
C:\Users\<your account>\AppData\Roaming\GLKVM
If the PC is running the Tailscale, you can access the glkvm web UI through the Tailscale IP of RM1.
Can one use web browser to access kvm using tailscale?
I couldn’t work out how to do this.
Il have to stick with tails ale access for now
I am using browser to get to kvm, but have to install tailscale onto all machines first.
I put tailscale on router only. Few routers have that feature.
Tailscale will give each kvm a set of ways to access. Ip4 ipv6 and url
Any update on this at all?
We are currently testing internally and plan to open the beta to users on July 24th.
Lovely - how do I get on the beta software group?
